I graduated from high school in the summer of 1975. The year 2000 was still a quarter of a century away. Then I blinked. When I opened my eyes, it was to find myself amidst the Y2K celebrations. I blinked once more to find myself here in 2025 (I’m only grateful I didn’t sneeze).

Returning to the mid-1970s, I used to be an avid fan of a British TV program called Tomorrow’s World. Each weekly episode introduced us to contemporary developments
in science and technology. Many of these technologies subsequently became commonplace. These included things like breathalyzers, home computers, audio synthesizers, pocket calculators, digital watches… the list goes on.

We regarded these technologies as being Jetson-level futuristic. We didn’t have a clue what was heading our way, like tablet computers and humongous televisions (both boasting high resolution color displays), digital cameras, smartphones, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, AI, VR, AR, EVs… the list goes on.

Do you realize that we are now a quarter of the way through the 21st century? One more blink and we’ll find ourselves in 2050. Will we have colonies on the Moon and Mars by that time? What new technologies will we have developed by then?

For the moment, I’m just excited to see what the coming year will bring. So, may I bid you a warm welcome to 2025. If there’s anything the team here at DENA can do to make your visit more enjoyable, you have only to ask.
